オムライス - Omelet and Chicken Ketchup Rice
This recipe is a classic Japanese home food. It’s made with simple, cheap ingredients that you can easily find here in Oxford.
I have tried to find a specific UK store that sells the ingredients you will need to make this recipe in brackets.
200g Rice (Sushi or Pudding Rice from Tesco)
80g Chicken or sausage
Half an onion
5tbsp Ketchup
3 swings of Black pepper
A pinch of salt
Mayonnaise
3 eggs
2tbsp Milk
10g Butter
Cook rice (preferably a little undercooked)
Chop the onion into small pieces
Cut the chicken into bite-size pieces or cut the sausage to 5mm thickness
Heat a frying pan with some oil
Cook onions at low heat until they become transparent
Add the chicken and salt and increase the heat to medium
Add the rice and mix
Add the ketchup and mix until the colour is even all over
Add pepper
Remove the cooked rice from the frying pan into a bowl
Flip the rice in the bowl onto a plate so it keeps a semi-spherical shape
Mix the all the eggs in a separate bowl
Add the milk, mayonnaise and mix well
Add the butter to a hot frying pan and spread the butter evenly on the frying pan
Lower the heat and add the eggs
Wait 5 seconds and start mixing the eggs from the outside in for 10 seconds
Wait 10 seconds and remove from heat
Remove from the frying pan and slide it onto the rice
Add more ketchup onto the egg
