Language Lessons

Language lessons are held every Thursday from week 2 to week 8 during termtime, from 6pm to 7pm, at the Oriental Institute (11 Pusey Ln, Oxford OX1).

Lessons are free for members and are divided into:

  • Beginner (If you are a complete beginner or have below JLPT N4 Level of Japanese or equivalent)
  • Intermediate (If you have JLPT N4 or 3 or equivalent, this is the best level for you. The facilitator will teach you basic Japanese grammar rules and how to use them in authentic contexts.)
  • Advanced (If you have JLPT N2, N1, or equivalent, this is the best level for you. The objective will be to improve language proficiency and also to learn how to use the language in real, authentic settings, such as job interviews, your CV, hospitals, shops, schools, universities, and airports. You should have a good command of communication in Japanese.)

Classrooms: Lecture Room 2 (Beginner), Room 116 (Intermediate), Basement Common Room (Advanced)
